Gentle Massage
During the first months of her life, your baby corrects her foetal position by stretching her muscles and learning to control her movements. Baby massage can help stimulate her muscle coordination and flexibility. Massaging your baby also stimulates blood circulation (which can be seen in her skin), regulates the heart rhythm and breathing and activates teh metabolism. It can help your baby relax by reducing the production of stress hormones, which allows her to fall aslepp faster, sleep longer and more deeply and be less irritable when awake.
Tips for a relaxing massage:
- Make sure the environment is pleasantly warm and cover any parts of the baby's body that you are not massaging to prevent her from getting cold.
- Talk softly and gently to your baby but try not to talk constatntly; she will enjoy the peace during the massage.
- Pre-heat a plant-based oil, like Weleda Calendula Oil or Weleda Calendula Lotion in your hands before you start massaging your baby.
- Start with gentle strokes, so that your baby becomes accustomed to the movement of your hands over the skin.

Calendula
